Thank you to everyone involved in our parent/ teacher/ student conferences yesterday afternoon/evening. It was lovely to see so many parents back onsite and sharing in their child's achievements and success. An extra shoutout and thankyou to our wonderful staff for the preparation of these interviews and of course the extra long work day.
By now you would have seen the information shared about masks being worn in schools. Teachers will be encouraging all students (years 3 and up) to wear masks when they are in the classroom, please ensure you send your child to school with a mask.
A reminder to parents who drop off on the Maclean Reserve side that students must come into the school yard from 8:30am when the gates open. We are finding a lot of students out in the playground area unsupervised before school.
Please see below information relating to the official opening of MacClean Reserve on July 23 from 11am to 1pm. All school families are invited to attend the event. Please also note in your diaries Friday 26th August as our school book fair dress up day, more information below.
Enjoy the rest of your week

Luke 11:1-13 The Lords Prayer
Prayer is our way of talking to and communing with God. There are many different ways we approach God in prayer, but at its core, prayer is our ongoing conversation with God.
The Lord’s Prayer is the prayer that Jesus taught when the disciples asked, “How should we pray?” is Jesus’s model for how we should pray. Jesus was not teaching us exact words to pray—although we often do pray these words—but giving us a model for prayer.
In the Lord’s Prayer, Jesus teaches us to pray for the things that we need. “Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive our sins. Save us.” Jesus also teaches us to pray for God’s ways above our own. “Your kingdom come, your will be done.” And Jesus teaches us to praise God in prayer. “Hallowed (holy) be your name. The kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours.”
Try and find some time to be still and enjoy having a quiet conversation with God, thanking him for all we are grateful for and asking for his support in times of need.
This Evening -Wednesday 20th July - 6:30 pm - Parent and Sponsor information evening
This evening is a session for parents and sponsors only. It will be held in the school hall and will be an opportunity to gain a better understanding of the Sacrament of Confirmation and your role as a sponsor.
Fr Elio Capra will be running the session and always makes his information sessions informative and engaging. We look forward to seeing as many parents and sponsors on the evening.
Altar Servers needed for the Confirmation Masses
We desperately need Altar servers to help Bishop Martin and Fr Greg at the Confirmation Masses. This is a wonderful opportunity for our Altar Servers.
The Mass dates are listed in the list of important dates to remember below.
Thank you to those students who have offered their service. We still need an Altar sever for Wednesday and Thursday evening.
I thank the children and their parents in advance for their support.
Way of the West
The St Mary’s school and Parish community are joining forces to respond to the needs of asylum seekers in our community. During the month of August, our Way of the West campaign is urging us all to respond to this need by donating various goods outlined on the flyer attached.
These goods are donated to the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) in Footscray and dispersed to families in need from there. There will be boxes in each classroom for you to donate these items. Please send the items in with your child.
If you are able to help this year then below are possible suggestions for you to start stocking up on:
Week 1: Monday 1st August - Sunday 7th August

With Hobsons Bay Council collection sites so close to the school, we are now encouraging families to donate their recyclable goods directly to these locations.
Please find a list of what recyclable items are collected and the location of these drop off points.
The closest collection points to the school are:
- Williamstown Community and Education Centre
- Williamstown Library.
Details of addresses of these and other collection points can be found attached to this link.
The school will still continue to accept donations of bread tags to be donated to the office only.
Parking at School Drop Off and Pick Up
Please be conscious of where you are dropping off and picking up your children at school times. The disabled parking is only for cars displaying a Disabled Parking sticker. Please observe the parking signs as it is often dangerous for students and their familes who are using the school crossing. Also, at times, there are parking inspectors.
Help Required
Do you like to BBQ? Perhaps you are a Breakfast wizard? Maybe you are great at closing a deal? We are looking for people who can help out with the following:
- Chief BBQer (and people who can turn a sausage or two)
- A group of Mum’s who can coordinate, and serve the Father’s Day Breakfast
- A sponsorship coordinator - this would suit anyone with a marketing or sales skill set.
If you are interested in helping out, please contact vicepresident@smwilliamstown.catholic.edu.au
School Disco - Tickets now on sale!
Our school disco is scheduled for Friday 19th August at the School Hall.
It's time for the kids to have a boogie and show off their dance moves at the School Disco. This is set to be a fun night just for our children. The cost is $10 per child and tickets can be purchased via CDF Pay. Please note that only St Mary’s children are able to attend this event.
To help ease congestion, this year we are running the disco in 2 x Sessions:
Session one is for the Preps, Grade 1 & 2’s and will run from 6.00pm to 7.15pm.
Session two is for Grade 3, 4, 5 & 6’s and will run from 7.30pm to 9.00pm.
If you are interested in volunteering please contact Bianca Paton volunteers@smwilliamstown.catholic.edu.au
For those of you that registered to volunteer already we will be in contact shortly to confirm you are still available. All volunteers must hold a current Working With Children permit which will need to be shared with Bianca.
Volunteers needed - Session 2: we need a couple of more volunteers for the second session, preferably with First Aid. If you can help out, please email Bianca Paton volunteers@smwilliamstown.catholic.edu.au
Father’s Day Stall Voucher - Available Now
Father’s Day Stall Vouchers are now available via CDFpay. As per the Mother’s Day stall, children will be able to purchase gifts for their special people using vouchers supplied on the day. Vouchers will be available until 19th August, however get in early so you don’t forget to order.
Now that Maclean Reserve has opened to our students, we would like to keep it a clean and safe space for our students. If you would like to help keep Maclean Reserve safe for our students, then please consider volunteering for the Maclean Reserve roster for Term 3 or 4. Volunteers collect the bucket and gloves from the office in the morning, and police the area before 11am; it takes approximately 15 minutes of your time. If you would like to volunteer, please collect a form from the office, or alternatively email your contact details and availability to volunteers@smwilliamstown.catholic.edu.au. Thank you to all of those parents who have already volunteered.
The next 2nd hand uniform shop will be scheduled for Wednesday 27th July, from 8:30-9:30am in the hall, and fortnightly after that. In addition, uniforms can still be ordered at any time by emailing Sherrine and Meagan at uniformspf@smwilliamstown.catholic.edu.au
