Dear Parents, Guardians and Community,
Well, winter is upon us. The turn in the weather often means our students spend more time inside as wet weather keeps us off the playground. A great time for students to get board games out, be creative and stay by the heater.
Year 6 Poetry Slam: Last week our Year 6 students had their first performance at Customs House. The place was packed as our students got up and performed their Slam Poetry. The students were very excited and there were many proud families. Most of our families also had a meal together, so it was a real community event. Some students who wish to continue with their poetry journey will have one more performance at the Williamstown Literary Festival on June 19 at 10 am at the Town Hall. To attend that performance you will need a ticket
Andrew Chinn Concert: On 22nd of June (Wednesday), Australian religious songwriter and singer, Andrew Chinn, will be visiting our school to share his songs with our children. Andrew’s songs, such as “These Hands”, “Rainbow”, “An African Blessing” and “Rise Up!” are used in classrooms and liturgies around Australia, New Zealand, USA and Canada. The concert will take place in the hall , at 2:30 . We look forward to seeing you there.
Maclean Reserve: Great news that it is finally open and the students have been able to try out the new equipment. A big Thank You to Hobsons Bay City Council for all their work to bring this together.
Open Classrooms today: We had a big turn out for our Open Classrooms this morning. Thanks to everyone who made it, our students love it when you are able to visit our classrooms.
Public Holiday. Don't forget next Monday is a public holiday!!
God Bless
Anthony

The Season of Pentecost
Pentecost takes place 50 days after Easter and completes the Easter Season. At Pentecost we remember how the Holy Spirit came to the disciples who were gathered in an upper room as a thunderous sound and then as a flame that rested on each of their heads. The Holy Spirit helped Jesus’ followers to courageously go out and share the good news about Jesus with many people, and so began the time of the Church.
All-powerful God,
Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
by water and the Holy Spirit you freed your sons and daughters from sin and gave them new life. Send your Holy Spirit upon us to be our helper and guide. Give us the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and fortitude, the spirit of knowledge and piety.
Fill us with the fear of the Lord.
We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Support for Ukraine
In the spirit of Mary Mackillop we are asking families to help those in need, especially those in the Ukraine. Those in Europe are doing so much to help, opening their homes to refugees, my parents included; providing food and clothing at borders and so much more.
We can help too!
If you are willing and able to provide financial support to those in need in Ukraine, there are flyers in the front office.
Important dates to Remember for Term 2
We look forward to welcoming parents back to school Masses and liturgies in the Church.
This weekend we welcome the Year 2 children and their families to the 10:30 Mass. The children will be sharing the School prayer with the Parish community. We look forward to seeing you at Mass.

Week 7 Class Representative Meeting
Class Reps shared responses about the Rainbow Retreat and Nudel Kart. Lots of great suggestions from the classes. The Class Reps will help Mrs Ristovski with setting up the Rainbow Retreat this week. The Nudel Kart will begin this week and there is a roster for the classes.

What ideas do you have for our Wellbeing Rainbow Day? We will have time for a buddy activity, what would you like to do with your buddy class?
RAINBOW WELLBEING DAY!
Please see the attached poster for our Wellbeing Rainbow Day on Friday 17th June.
Each year level has been allocated a colour from the rainbow. Students can wear casual clothes that are this colour or an accessory such as hat, beanie, scarf, headband, ribbon etc. The students will be involved in various activities with a focus on building positive relationships and friendships. Looking forward to a positive and fun filled day.
Great news! The P&F have successfully purchased a number of St. Mary’s branded AFL jumpers and soccer shirts that are already being worn by our students in their inter sports activities. This is in addition to the summer sport uniform basketball shirts & shirts t-ball and volleyball that were purchased last year. These purchases of $6,000 is a direct result of the fundraisers that we contribute to throughout the year. Thank you to Mr. Lovett for helping to organise these – we are told that they look great.
The next P&F Association will be on Monday 20th June, at 8pm via Zoom. Please email Jacinda Davies for access.
The next 2nd hand uniform shop will be scheduled for Wednesday 15th June, from 8:30-9:30am in the hall, and fortnightly after that. In addition, uniforms can still be ordered at any time by emailing Sherrine and Meagan at uniformspf@smwilliamstown.catholic.edu.au

It's Fair Time so
SAVE THE DATE : SUNDAY 13TH OF NOVEMBER!
Get out the diary, your phone or wall calendar and block out Sunday 13th November for our St Mary's Fabulous Family Fair!!
Spread the word, tell your parents, grandparents, extended family, your ballet school, footy club, the vet and even your dentist to put it in their diaries too.
This is the BIGGEST event in our P&F calendar!
St Mary's will be opening up our doors to welcome in not only our school, but all of our local community too, it's going to be HUGE!
Our last school Fair was in 2018 with over 3000 happy people enjoying the sunshine with delicious food, games, rides, showbags, amazing stalls and entertainment.
This year, we look forward to doing it all again - with all of YOU!
A huge thank you to everyone that has signed up already as a stall champion. These are the heroes of the stall, the person that co-ordinates all the logistics and behind the scenes details. We only have two champion opportunities left: Devonshire Tea & The BBQ. Don't be shy, you'll have a team of helpers to guide you through.
Thank you also to those who have sent back the volunteer forms or sent in their availability via email. Every hour of volunteering helps! Grab your class friends and spend a couple hours on your favourite stall on the day. More details for this will come a little later too.
During the next 6 months leading up to the big day we will be coming to our school community asking for support with donations and pledges. Each month there will be something different to bring in. All donations can be dropped to the front office.
For the month of June we are seeking donations for:
* Glass jars (empty, cleaned and labels removed of all shapes and sizes)
* Wrapping paper (can be left over Christmas wrapping, birthday, any colour)
* Lucky Dip items (stationery, hair accessories, Lego, little gifts)
* Raffle items (big or small)
* Donation pledges for stall consumables, such as sausages, bread, milk, coffee etc (If you are or know someone that may own a local business and could possibly donate some of these items)
The Fair brings us together as a community, it's a BIG day focused on our kids, faculty and families all having a great time. It is also the top fundraiser for our school. You'll be surprised what a small school like ours can do when we come together!
Contact with us with any questions or to get involved fair@smwilliamstown.catholic.edu.au
Thanks so much,
Jemima, Louise & P&F Association
This week our students have moved into exam week for Years 8 – 12. They have been working hard on revision and preparation for their exams and we wish them well. Our social justice activities for the next couple of weeks focus on building empathy for and supporting people experiencing homelessness. Students are bringing donations of socks and gloves and warm undergarments which have been identified by St Vinnies as the greatest need for the people in their care. We thank the students and their families for their generous spirit.
Our next College Experience event is the Annual Information Morning to be held at both campuses. Registrations are essential for these events and can be made via the Tours & Events tab on the right hand side of the homepage of the College website, www.ecmelb.catholic.edu.au . Details of each event are as follows:
Notre Dame Campus - Saturday 6 August, 2022 - Commencing at 9.00 am with the Principal’s address, followed by tours and ending at 10.30 am
St Paul’s Campus - Saturday 6 August, 2022 - Commencing at 10.30 am with the Principal’s address, followed by tours and ending at 12 Noon
This is a great opportunity to hear from the College Principal, parents and most importantly, our students. You will have an opportunity to tour the facilities and see the great learning spaces available to students.
Also, applications for enrolment for Year 7, 2024 are now being accepted and close on Friday 19 August 2022. A Prospectus Pack containing an enrolment application form can be requested from the College website, on the right hand side of the homepage under the Enrolment Information tab, by emailing enrolments@ecmelb.catholic.edu.au, calling the College Registrar on 8325 5119 or visiting the friendly staff at reception of either of our campuses. Please note, that if you have a child who is currently in Grade 5 and wish for them to be considered for a place at the College for Year 7, 2024, it is a requirement for you to submit an application for them, even if you already have older children at the College.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
