Dear Parents, Guardians and Community,
This week we celebrate the males in our lives with the celebration of Father's Day. Whether it be Fathers, Step Dads, Grand Fathers, Uncles, Brothers or whoever it is, males play an important role in our lives. We wish all Males in our lives a Happy Father's Day. A big thank you once again to our P and F for all their efforts, especially this year as they have managed to come up with ways to celebrate Fathers in a remote way.
Extension of Restrictions. As news comes this week of an extension of restrictions, we take this time to thank everyone for their continued efforts. We will send a new google form for families who need to send their children to school and meet the official requirements.
Staffing News: Paul Burke has resigned from his position at St Mary's and will be leaving us at the end of this term Paul is taking up a teaching position at the Royal Children's Hospital which he is really excited about. As much as the timing is not perfect, these opportunities do not come up too often and we wish Paul all the best. The school is currently advertsing for the position and hope to fill the position soon.
At School, we continue to have around 25 students most days, Fridays are our quiet days. Many families are letting us know they can see their children struggling a bit at the moment. You, as parents, know your children better than us and I am sure you will know when to make that call when they need a break.
Next year the school will be moving to an online enrolment process through a program called Enquiry tracker. New families will be able to book a school tour, enrol their child and upload all the required documentation through the platform. It will mean things like acceptance processes becomes more automated and streamlined. It will also mean our administration team will not have to copy all the enrolment information into the admin system, this will be simply uploaded at certain times of the year.
Community Portal. We did some more training last week and we think you can now access the community portal. We are making decisions around what parents will have access to. For example, student information, financial information, medical forms, absenteeism, parent teacher interview and excursions can all be managed through the portal. We will start with one or two of those features, master that and then add some of the others. A couple of parents have checked for us and can now login. I encourage you to login to the portal to check you have access.
NAPLAN. The NAPLAN papers have arrived for the students and we are in the process of posting them out. Naplan is one of many assessments we do at the school which we then use to analysis how a student is going and where they go next. Some students thrive in formal assessments like Naplan, whilst others can find them very stressful. As a school we do not live and breath by Naplan results, we put much more importance on the individual child and the value they bring to our school.
God bless and stay safe
