Dear Parents, Guardians and Community,
Bicentenary Mass: Next week Catholic Education is celebrating the Bicentennial of Catholic Education in Australia. We have ten students representing our school at the Mass at the Cathedral and we have our own school mass on the Wednesday. St Mary's, being the oldest continuously run Catholic School In Victoria, is playing a big role in the Bicentennial year. There is much to celebrate in Catholic Education in Australia. Are you aware that Catholic industries, education, nursing homes, hospitals, counselling etc is the second biggest private employee in Australia?
Filming at School. On Monday the 31st of May there will be some filming at the front of the school for a movie production. There are scenes being filmed at the church with a couple of small scenes at the school. Filming will start after 9:30 so as not to interrupt the start of the school day.
Canberra. Students from our school have recently undertaken an education tour of the national capital. Students will be given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage and democracy.
The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government is contributing funding of $45.00 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.
Principal Conference: this week I am away from Wednesday to Friday attending the Western Region Catholic Principal Conference. I will still be available through email during this time.
God Bless and Stay Safe
Anthony
When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.'
