Dear Parents, Guardians and Community.
Another exciting week at St Mary's with things feeling a bit more normal every day. The classes seem very settled and the students are working really well. It is as if they never left.
Health and Well being Day: Thank you to Michelle Ristovski and Karoline Cooke who organised our Health and Well being Day. It was a tremendous success and was a great way of bringing our community back together. The students had a lot of fun and their spirits were high.
Class Representatives: Congratulations to all our new Class Representatives who received their badges on Monday. Our students take pride in being leaders in our school. Well done to the students selected for this term.
Way of the West: What a fantastic effort by the community to support families in need. It is something I really like about our community, how everyone helps where they can.
Communication: We continue to improve how we do things and this week we learnt how to add tiles to the app which allowed us to make tiles for CDF Pay and the P and F. The App gives options of email, feed and app, so you will still get some emails from the school. The app is managed in the office, so if a teacher wishes to get a message to families on the weekend, you will still receive emails this way using our group lists on gmail. Next year we hope to introduce a Parent Portal where Parents can login and complete medical forms, enrolment information and other tasks.
Footy and Fairies Day: Do not forget Footy and Fairies Day on Thursday. Students can have colour in their hair, but we ask that this be done at home.
Finally, an update on my son. William left hospital on Friday after a month in and he has now finished the hardest part of his treatment. He now has to go to the hospital every ten days for chemo, but at a much lower level. We do this to around Christmas. His appointments then go to every two months and then three months finishing mid 2022. It is a major relief for us and our lives will return to some sort of normal. William will even start attending school next week. Thanks for all your thoughts, prayers and messages.
God Bless and Stay Safe

Dear Confirmation and 1st Eucharist parents of 2020. Although the school and parish had planned for both Confirmation and 1st Eucharist ceremonies and celebrations to this year, due to the Covid situation those ceremonies will most likely be held next year. I apologise for any inconvenience this has caused but my hands are tied due to Government regulations and the present situation with Covid 19. Myself, together with Michelle Ebinger (Faith Formation Leader) and the Pastoral Associate of the Parish Monique Julian, will be getting together in early December to organise all necessary things. After that meeting of ours and before the end of the year we will let everyone know of the change of dates, and any necessary details. At this time we may need to limit the numbers normally invited to those ceremonies in early 2021. It is expected that the ceremonies will include the parents and for Confirmation, one sponsor, but cannot guarantee that a bigger family group or friendship group will be able to be invited at the time.
Yours in Christ
Father Greg

Jogathon 2020
Well done to all the children who participated in the 15th Annual St Mary’s Jogathon in Lockdown. It was great to see so many smiling faces out on their scavenger hunt. Many thanks to all the families who have kindly donated. We know how difficult this year has been for many families, so we appreciate your generous donations. This year, our Jogathon raised $4550.60. All monies raised during Jogathon go to the St Mary’s Williamstown Parish School Building Fund.

St Mary’s Pantry
Our School Community comes together to support our families that may need or would like help during times of need or distress through our St Mary’s Pantry. The Pantry consists of frozen family meals, enough to feed a family of five, and can be accessed through the school office or your classroom teacher. If you are interested in becoming involved in meal preparation, please contact Kitty Colton - kitrian@optusnet.com . We would encourage any families that feel to access these meals when needed. In the unusual year we have had it is important to acknowledge the Year 12 students who are moving into their last weeks of secondary school. Their GRIT, determination and willingness to embrace the challenge of this year has been remarkable and we know that our future is in safe hands with these future leaders. We wish them well and encourage them to live ‘Life to the Full’ and take up every opportunity that they are offered.
St Paul’s Campus is excited about the pending return of students in Years 8 – 10 and resumption of the Hot Shots Tennis Academy which operates out of the new courts there.
Just a reminder that applications for Year 7, 2022 closed on Friday 9 October. If you have a child who is currently in Year 5 and have not yet submitted an application for enrolment, please contact the College Registrar at enrolments@ecmelb.catholic.edu.au or call on 8325 5119 to discuss your options.
