Dear Parents, Carers and Community,
Our Prayer to Mary
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
This week is all about mothers as we have the official Mother's day this Sunday. Thank you to our Mothers and their contribution to our school community. We hope you all have a wonderful day and enjoy the look in your child's eye as they pass you that well thought out present in the morning. Thank you to our Parents and Friends association for their Mother's Day Stall and breakfast. I know many of our mums also attend the Mother's Day lunch. Special thanks to our parent volunteers for tthe Mother's Day Stall

Canberra Camp: I know a few of our students will be missing their mums this week as they spend some time in Canberra on our Year 5/6 camp. Thank you to all our staff who give up their time to give the students this experience. Our students are visiting Parliament House (new and old) the Art Gallery, War Memorial and other places of significance in Canberra.
Half Way There.. Holbrook stop on the way to Canberra.
National Walk Safely to School Day May 10: This Friday we celebrate National Walk Safely to School Day. So please, if you can, please encourage and help your child to walk to school, or at least part of the way.
School Uniform: With colder days now with us a reminder that families are expected to only wear the official school uniform, including beanies, hats, socks, tracksuits pants and scarves. I do get the occasional question about having a school puffer jacket, which we did look into and then decided against as we already have the soft shell jacket which was added for the same purpose. Students should not be wearing black socks, leggings or cords. Also, please remember that sports runners and sports tops are only to be worn when students are in their sports uniform. School shoes are to be worn all other times.
Year 3/4 Family Mass - this Saturday at 6pm. Students are being presented to the Parish community in preparation for their First Eucharist.
SOLAR: St Mary's is going solar! Soon you will be seeing solar panels installed on portable buildings not only making us more environmentally friendly, but taking thousands from our electricity bills. We should see them installed in the next few weeks on the weekends.
Storytime: Next week we have our first storytime for our new Preps for 2025. We have had many many acceptances for their position and we are looking to have two full classes in Prep in 2025. Story time. Tuesday 14th of May 2:30
Congratulations to Ava McCutcheon. Ava won the under 18 writing competition, yes, that is correct, in the April/May edition of Hobsons Bay Community News.
Hi, I’m Ava and I'm 9 years old. I am the 5th generation to go to St Mary's Primary School. When my Nan went to St Mary's, she marched
into class, but I walk. Out my classroom window, I see the playground, but Nan saw the Post Office. At lunchtime Nan played hopscotch, I swing on the monkey bars. Nan was in a crowded classroom where 94 kids would sit on desks, the floor and windowsills, I have a table all to myself.
The bell would ring by pulling a rope, now an electric bell rings. I must go to class, I hope you liked my story bye.
Well done Ava!!
God Bless
Anthony

Gospel: John 17:11-19
And now I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them in your name that you have given me, so that they may be one, as we are one.
While I was with them, I protected them in your name that you have given me. I guarded them, and not one of them was lost except the one destined to be lost, so that the scripture might be fulfilled.
But now I am coming to you, and I speak these things in the world so that they may have my joy made complete in themselves.
I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world.
I am not asking you to take them out of the world, but I ask you to protect them from the evil one.
They do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world. Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.
As you have sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world.
And for their sakes I sanctify myself, so that they also may be sanctified in truth.
Mother’s Day Mass
We are looking forward to celebrating all our mother’s and mother like figures this Friday.
Mass will begin at 9:15am and the children will be start arriving at the church shortly after 9:00am, so we ask that those attending the Mass be seated by 9:00am - CHILDREN WILL SIT WITH THEIR MOTHERS. They will be brought to the church and find you inside.
The front row is reserved for the readers and their mothers and siblings. The following three rows will be reserved for the Year 1 students and their mothers and siblings.
The seats to the right of the Altar are reserved for our choir.
Children whose parents are unable to attend will sit with their classroom teacher.
We know that all mums will be enjoying a coffee and catching up with other mothers in the hall prior to Mass, but we do ask that if you are attending the Mass, that you make your way over to the church for 9:00am and that no coffee cups are brought into the church.
We look forward to seeing as many mums and mother like figures at the Mass as possible. The year ones have worked hard in preparing for this and are so excited to lead the Mass for us.

Round 2
DUE TO CAMP THIS WILL BE RESCHEDULED TO BE PLAYED ON A MONDAY WEEK 6
On Monday 29 April, St Mary's School marked International Dance Day with a special celebration. We were thrilled to have the talented Christopher Politis lead a series of engaging hip-hop dance workshops for students in Years 1 through 6. Prep students also participated in a hip-hop workshop on Monday 6 May. All the students and staff had a blast.
