Dear Parents, Guardians and community,
Firstly, thank you to the community of St Mary's that allowed our staff to attend the funeral of ex Principal of St Mary's, Jim Sheedy. There were many members of our community that joined us, ex staff members, Parents, Board members and ex students. Jim had an impact in the many schools he had worked in with the church bursting at the seams. His children spoke very warmly of him and shared many keys times in his life, including his time at St Mary's. We keep the Sheedy family in our thoughts and prayers.
Bike Education seems to be the major event occurring at the school at the moment with our students from grades 3 to 6. Our new bike parking area is struggling to keep up with demand. We are working on building a new gate so we can better entry and exit points. It is just tremendous seeing so many students riding to school and being independent.
Arriving on time. Just a reminder that our first bell goes at 8:55. We are having quite a few latecomers at the moment which can be very disruptive when we are trying to settle classes down for the day. If your child is not coming to school, please complete the absentee form to let the school know.
I can also see we have a flyer for the Parent Social night coming up soon. I am hoping all our families can attend this as it is a great way to build community and get to know other families in our school. After the lock down period, it is time for us to get out and about again!! Thanks to the P and F for putting this together, it looks like a really fun night. Closing Dates for the venue is now this Friday, the 24th, so please purchase you tickets ASAP. Try booking link https://www.trybooking.com/
Thank you to our families through the P and F that has allowed us to order more decodable readers for our grades Prep to 2. We can always purchase more. The P and F are supporting this with a $2500 contribution.
Finally, we have our Prep Mass this Sunday for our current Year Preps and as a welcome for our 2024 Preps. Father Greg will also be back from his holiday.
Garden Update
Our Coriander is now ready so please, once again, help yourself. It is a confetti variety, so it does look a little different, but it is coriander.
Coriander 'Confetti'
Coriandrum sativum
This cut-leaf coriander has higher yields than flat-leaf types and is slower to bolt. It has the same pungent citrus flavour to the leaves and is lovely in rice paper rolls and summer salads.
Our Zucchini's are now growing, so they are probably only a week away from harvesting and we have some carrots coming through. We still have plenty of Rocket which are number of families are helping themselves too (you might want to bring your own bag or fill your child's lunch box on the way home)
God Bless
Anthony

Gospel – Matthew 25:31-46
Jesus said to his disciples:
“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit upon his glorious throne, and all the nations will be assembled before him. And he will separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.
He will place the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
Then the king will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.
For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.’
Then the righteous will answer him and say, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink?
When did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you?
When did we see you ill or in prison, and visit you?’
And the king will say to them in reply, ‘Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of the least
brothers of mine, you did for me.’
Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you accursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, a stranger and you gave me no welcome, naked and you gave me no clothing, ill and in prison, and you did not care for me.’
Then they will answer and say, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or ill or in prison, and not minister to your needs?’
He will answer them, ‘Amen, I say to you, what you did not do for one of these least ones, you did not do for me.’
And these will go off to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

Each week, in our storytime, we focus on a theme or topic. It is great fun reading about these and we enjoy the discussions that follow. With the help of points from Scholastic Book Club, and our annual Book Fair, we have continued to renew our stock of library books so there is always something new to find in our Library.
At Emmanuel, we believe in students being a part of our College community for life. This last week is a perfect example of this, with some of next year’s Year 7s visiting and our full Orientation Morning happening next week. On Thursday evening we will gather for the Celebration of Excellence at Flemington Racecourse, where we celebrate students achieving their personal best.
