Dear Parents, Guardians and Community,
What a fabulous day we had for our Junior Sport's Carnival. The students loved it. I think the students found it much better to have their own Junior Sports Carnival more suited to their needs. Thank you to all the staff and parents and student leaders who helped make the day such a success.

Gospel – Matthew 22:15-21
The Pharisees went off and plotted how they might entrap Jesus in speech.
They sent their disciples to him, with the Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that you are a truthful man and that you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. And you are not concerned with
Tell us, then, what is your opinion: Is it lawful to pay the census tax to Caesar or not?”
Knowing their malice, Jesus said, “Why are you testing me, you hypocrites?
Show me the coin that pays the census tax.” Then they handed him the Roman coin.
He said to them, “Whose image is this and whose inscription?”
They replied, “Caesar’s.” At that he said to them, “Then repay to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to God.”
anyone’s opinion, for you do not regard a person’s status.

Our School Song
Last term Drew Lane came to our school to run singing workshops with the children. He also debuted a new song which he had written for our school called the ‘Courage of Mary’.
On the day Drew worked with the children in the choir to create a video.
We will now start singing this song at the Friday assemblies in place of the prayer.
Here is the new song ‘The Courage of Mary’
Sunday 29th October
Year 1 / 2 Family Mass
This Sunday, 29th October, the Year 1 and 2 children will be celebrating their family Mass. We look forward to seeing the year one and two families at the Mass.
This month this mass coincides with our monthly family Mass. I am hoping this means we will see a lot of our school families at Mass.
The Year 1 and 2 children have been busy practicing their readings and Gospel reflection.
As this is also the children’s Liturgy we welcome all children who would like to sing in the choir to come along and join us. This will make the Mass a bigger celebration.
Thank you to all the families who have returned the form indicating how their child would like to participate in the Mass. As it is a Year 1and 2 family Mass, these children will take on a majority of the reading roles.
All children willing to sing with the choir are welcome. I will call all children for a practice next week.

Colour Explosion Jogathon
Colour Explosion Jogathon
There’s less than two weeks to go until our Colour Explosion Jogathon. If you haven’t done so, please activate your children’s online profile to begin fundraising. It’s super easy and only takes a few minutes:
- Go to australianfundraising.com.au
- Click on ‘Login’ and select ‘School Run 4 Fun’
- Search “St Mary’s School – Williamstown”
A reminder that we’d encourage students to wear a white t-shirt on the day as this maximises the colour explosion.
Thanks to those who are helping on the day, it’s a big event to organise and we would love some more help. If you can spare some time for set-up, clean-up, colour crew or sausage sizzle on Friday 3 November, please click here.
To create some friendly competition, the class that fundraises the most money will win “slime time”. The winning class will get to slime their classmates and play with slime at the end of the Jogathon. Our two top classes to date are Prep L and 3SL who have activated the most profiles and raised the most money. Please contact the office if your child has any allergies to slime.
Classes will be running at the following times. Please note a slight change in timing:
- Prep – Year 2: 11:40am – 12.20pm
- Years 3 & 4: – 12.30pm – 1.10pm
- Years 5 & 6: – 1.20pm – 2.00pm
A huge shout out to Treehaus Williamstown for their continued support of this event.

Thank you to those parents/carers who have previously helped on the Maclean Reserve Roster and a very warm welcome to all our new families who may like to think about assisting. Term 4 roster is about to be completed and I am seeking a few more volunteers – be it mums, dads or carers. It involves collecting rubbish from Maclean Reserve to assist in keeping the area safe and clean for our students and siblings alike that use ‘the green’. It takes 10-15 minutes anytime between 8.30 - 10.45am on your rostered date. Please click the link below:
It was wonderful to welcome our Year 7 2024 families at the Parent Information Night last Wednesday where we outlined what to expect with starting secondary school as well as important information such as booklist, uniform and transport details. Orientation Morning on Tuesday 28 November is another opportunity for new students to get to know each other, meet staff and find out which house they will be in next year.
Year 7 2025 Letters of Offer and waitlist notifications were emailed to families last Friday and Confirmation of Acceptance documentation is due back by Friday 10 November. For those families that received a waiting list letter, please know that if a place does arise during the remainder of this year and into next year, our Registrar will be in contact with you.
Our final experience opportunity of the year is the upcoming Twilight Talk and Tour at each campus as below:
