Dear Parents, Guardians and Community,
What a success our first Italian Day was last week. We are already planning for next years!! Grazie, Signorina Edmunds for such a wonderful school event.
This week we have our exciting Junior Sport's Carnival on Robertson Reserve 11:40 to 1:40. The weather looks great!! We hope you can all make it. The students are really excited about it.
Speaking of excitement, our Year 4 students are heading off to camp this Thursday and Friday to Daylesford. The students will be taking part in horse riding and archery and other activities. Thank you to the teachers and staff for their commitment to this.
The Bicycle Network are due in tomorrow to move our Bike Racks so we should be able to start having the students parking there next week.
St Mary's Colour Run is only a few weeks away. Have you organised your sponsors page yet? www.australianfundraising.com.au
Parent Learning Walk: Our Next Parent Learning Walk will be on Thursday November 9th. The topic for this walk will be the Phonics/Spelling Program in Grades P to 2. The Session will begin at 9am with a visit to the classrooms and then we will go to the staffroom where parents can ask any questions they want.
School Uniform: School Hats - we are putting in an order for a new school hat with a larger brim to give families the two options. We will let you know when they become available. We will slowly phase the current hats so that we become a bit more sun smart.
God Bless
Anthony

Gospel – Matthew 22:1-14
Jesus again in reply spoke to the chief priests and elders of the people in parables, saying,
“The kingdom of heaven may be likened to a king who gave a wedding feast for his son.
He dispatched his servants to summon the invited guests to the feast, but they refused to come.
A second time he sent other servants, saying, ‘Tell those invited: “Behold, I have prepared my banquet, my calves and fattened cattle are killed, and everything is ready; come to the feast.”‘
Some ignored the invitation and went away, one to his farm, another to his business.
The rest laid hold of his servants, mistreated them, and killed them.
The king was enraged and sent his troops, destroyed those murderers, and burned their city.
Then he said to his servants, ‘The feast is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy to come.
Go out, therefore, into the main roads and invite to the feast whomever you find.’
The servants went out into the streets and gathered all they found, bad and good alike, and the hall was filled with guests.
But when the king came in to meet the guests, he saw a man there not dressed in a wedding garment.
The king said to him, ‘My friend, how is it that you came in here without a wedding garment?’ But he was reduced to silence.
Then the king said to his attendants, ‘Bind his hands and feet, and cast him into the darkness outside, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.’
Many are invited, but few are chosen.”
Sunday 29th October
Year 1 / 2 Family Mass
This term the Children’s Liturgy Mass coincides with the Year 1 / 2 Family Mass.
The Year 1 and 2 children will be reading and will have a Gospel reflection to share with us. We look forward to celebrating together with you all.
As this is also the children’s Liturgy we welcome all children who would like to sing in the choir to come along and join us. This will make the Mass a bigger celebration.
I will be sending out a reminder note about the Mass and asking willing singers to sign up. This will allow Monique to know how many microphones she will need to set up on the day.

Hopefully you’ve now received your booklet from Australian Fundraising, along with the flyer explaining more about the event. Please go online, follow the simple steps to activate your child’s profile and share the link with family and friends. A big thanks to those families and students who have already activated their profile to begin fundraising.
It’s shaping up to be a great day, with music, a sausage sizzle and icy poles for the students.
This year the classes will be split into 3 groups who will be running at the following times:
- Prep - Year 2: 11.40am - 12.30pm
- Years 3 and 4: 12.30pm - 1.20pm
- Years 5 and 6: 1.20pm - 2.10pm
We will also need many helpers on the day, so if you are available on Friday 3 November, please register via this link.
Orders are open - Christmas cards designed by the students!
Parish Secretary/ Financial Administrator
Dear Parents
There is an excellent opportunity available for a school parent who can easily bring their children to school and pick them up at the end of the day.
We require the Parish Secretary to work out of the St Mary’s presbytery and to normally work 21 hours on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
The applicant must have strong PC skills, in particular Microsoft Office suite of products and ideally good communication skills with ability
To relate to a variety of people. Also these days the candidate needs strong financial skills, maintaining accounts, Bas statements and
Reporting via Xero, bank reconciliations, preparing reports for Finance committee and end of year reporting and budgeting.
This opportunity is open until October 23rd and one can read more by looking under website of ‘Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne’ under
JOB VACANCIES. Maybe you might have a capable friend in mind and if it is the right person payment would be adjusted to a higher scale.
Yours sincerely
Fr Greg Trythall Parish Priest
Thank you to those parents/carers who have previously helped on the Maclean Reserve Roster and a very warm welcome to all our new families who may like to think about assisting. Term 4 roster is about to be completed and I am seeking a few more volunteers – be it mums, dads or carers. It involves collecting rubbish from Maclean Reserve to assist in keeping the area safe and clean for our students and siblings alike that use ‘the green’. It takes 10-15 minutes anytime between 8.30 - 10.45am on your rostered date. Please click the link below:

The exciting times continue here at Emmanuel. Last week we had the official opening of the new arts building at the Notre Dame Campus, named in honour of Brother Bob Resing. Br Bob remains a popular and respected figure in our College community, and we were so pleased that he was able to travel from the US to join us. The state-of-the-art facilities are another great space for our students to learn and collaborate in.
Our Year 12s celebrated their final year at Emmanuel with mass at St Patrick’s Cathedral last Friday evening followed by a fantastic dinner at the Sofitel and on Tuesday this week we shared their last official school day with them at Werribee Mansion. We wish all of our students well with their revision and studying for upcoming exams.
Students and staff have returned from their trip to NASA where they attended Space Camp, along with visiting Washington and Orlando. It has been wonderful to hear about the amazing experiences that they shared and new friendships formed from their time together.
We warmly welcome you to join us at our final experience event for the year, the Twilight Talk and Tours at each campus. Please note that bookings are essential for these events and can be made by clicking on the Tours and Events tab on the right-hand side of the homepage of the College website www.ecmelb.catholic.edu.au. Details for each campus are below:
