Dear Parents, Guardians and Community,
This week we have our first Italian Day. Students are asked to wear Italian Colours on Friday, Green, White and Red. There will be many activities on the day with the students having a gelato ice cream as part of the day. A big thank you to Melissa Edmunds who has put a lot of time and energy into the day.
STEM Aviation. Good luck to our students competing tomorrow. We are competing in the fastest plane, heaviest payload and unique design competitions.
Year 5 Leadership. We begin our preparations for our senior leaders in 2024 with our Year 5 students working with Unleashing Personal Potential https://www.unleashingpersonalpotential.com.au/This Group worked with our current Year 6 students in 2023 and the feedback from the students and teachers was excellent.
Plans are progressing well for our Colour Explosion Jogathon, scheduled for Friday 3 November. For our new families, this is one of the students favourite events on the school calendar and our major fundraiser for the year. This year our P&F are trying something new by adding the colour explosion element and partnering with Australian Fundraising. I’d encourage you to support this fantastic event – you should have received a flyer and booklet with instructions sent home last week. www.australianfundraising.com.au
We are registered under St Mary's School - Williamstown. Each child needs to create an online profile page
Good Luck and thank you for support. Our major fundraising goal is the redevelopment of our playground.
Things are starting to move ahead with our playground development. The asphalt at the front of the school has now been repaired and I have been in contact with the Bicycle Network to come in to reconfigure our bike racks to this area. Our veggie garden is now up and operational and we have a team of students who love getting in the garden daily weeding, watering and planting. Currently we have growing snow peas (nearly ready) broad beans, zucchini, basil, coriander, mint, chives and rocket. We are hoping most of this is ready by the end of the school year. Thank you to Luca Mintoff in 4H who has been growing some zucchini seedlings at home for us which we were able to purchase from him for our garden. Anyone is welcome in our garden.
Taking Photographs of students. Just a reminder that if you are taking a photo of students at our school that you do seek permission from the family and or school, especially if it is being used on social media. Once it is used on social media it really becomes public property and you do not control where it is used or shared to.
Three Big Parent Thank you's.
Firstly to Monika McKellar for going out of her way to ensure we are able to do icypole day. She was unable to do a bulk order so visited several stores to get the quanity we needed. THANK YOU MONIKA.
Secondly, to Amanda Nguyen for stepping up to run the Second Hand Uniform shop. THANK YOU AMANDA
Finally, to Nicole Bennett who has been doing a great job cleaning Maclean Reserve on mornings when we have no volunteers to do so. I encourage people to volunteer for this as your children enjoy using this playground everyday. THANK YOU NICOLE
God Bless
Anthony

Gospel: Matthew 21:33-43
Jesus said to the chief priests and the elders of the people:
“Hear another parable. There was a landowner who planted a vineyard,
put a hedge around it, dug a wine press in it, and built a tower. Then he leased it to tenants and went on a journey.
When vintage time drew near, he sent his servants to the tenants to obtain his produce.
But the tenants seized the servants and one they beat, another they killed, and a third they stoned.
Again he sent other servants, more numerous than the first ones, but they treated them in the same way.
Finally, he sent his son to them, thinking, ‘They will respect my son.’
But when the tenants saw the son, they said to one another, ‘This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and acquire his inheritance.’
They seized him, threw him out of the vineyard, and killed him.
What will the owner of the vineyard do to those tenants when he comes?”
They answered him, “He will put those wretched men to a wretched death and lease his vineyard to other tenants who will give him the produce at the proper times.”
Jesus said to them, “Did you never read in the Scriptures: The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; by the Lord has this been done, and it is wonderful in our eyes?
Therefore, I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people that will produce its fruit.”
Sunday 29th October
Year 1 / 2 Family Mass
This term the Children’s Liturgy Mass coincides with the Year 1 / 2 Family Mass.
The Year 1 and 2 children will be reading and will have a Gospel reflection to share with us. We look forward to celebrating together with you all.
As this is also the children’s Liturgy we welcome all children who would like to sing in the choir to come along and join us. This will make the Mass a bigger celebration.
I will be sending out a reminder note about the Mass and asking willing singers to sign up. This will allow Monique to know how many microphones she will need to set up on the day.

At Emmanuel, Term 4 has gotten off to a flying start. Last Friday was our Year 12 Graduation, with mass held at St Patrick’s Cathedral, followed by a beautiful dinner at the Sofitel. In a passing of the baton moment, we celebrated the Year 12s and everything they have and will continue to achieve at Emmanuel last week and next week, we welcome the students and parents of Year 7, 2024 to the Parent Information Evening.

Next week offers will be distributed to families for Year 7, 2025. Please remember that you have three weeks to accept or decline your offer as there will be a substantial waiting list to whom we can offer unfilled places.
