Dear Parents, Guardian and Community,
This week we have our Student learning conferences where students, families and teachers get to sit down to discuss the progress a student is making. There are three central questions that drive this conversation; "What have you been working on?' "How did it go?" "What do you need to work on next?" Learning should always been seen on a continuum, that is, it take place in steps. Any goal of learning should also come with an action plan because without a plan of how to improve, it is more than likely that nothing will happen.
2024 Our Fabulous Fair. Next year we are due to have our next Fabulous Fair. It is time to start to get a little organised as few things need to be booked... most of the work is closer to the fair, it is just the bookings (eg rides) we need to get sorted now. We are hoping all families can help in some way. Can your please click the link and complete the simple google form to give us some idea of how you can help
Indigenous Uniform Tops. Great News, We are now taking orders!!! The short sleeve will retail at
Short sleeve $43.90
Long Sleeve $45.90
It is a bit more expensive as it is a much better quality than we have previously had meaning it should last a lot longer. We have a sizing kit at school for you to try sizes. As soon as the orders come in the students can begin to wear the new top on sport lessons' days.
Love Maths: This Friday we have our first day with Love Maths. Maree Croft, from Love Maths, will be modelling lessons for our teachers, discussing the components of good lessons and then looking at forward planning. We are very excited about this partnership.
Confirmation Information Night. This Thursday we have our Confirmation Parent Information night starting at 6:30. The evening will be led by Father Elio Capra. Confirmation is one of the initiation Sacraments and works closely with Baptism. The major focus for Confirmation is that the candidate now takes on more responsibility whereas the Godparents would take that responsibility at Baptism.
Wakakirri: One of the many ways we like to extend our students is through the Wakakirri dance competition. Those students who are really interested in dance have been putting in many extra hours for the competition as they prepare for the filming of their performance. A big thank you to Miss Gina for all the extra hours she puts in.
Chess Club. This week we also started our Chess competition where our students can now complete for their House team to earn points. We have quite a lot of students who love chess and play regularly at school. Mr James Howat is our Chess master who is behind this. Thanks James!!
Australian Maths Competition. Thank you to all who registered. We have just under 50 students competing. The competition will take place on Thursday August 3rd. We will run two different test times, one for the 3/4 students and one for the 5/6 students.
Science Week. (August 12-20)Science week is not too far away and our parent volunteers are very excited (and a bit nervous) about the activity they will do with their child's class. This is a great opportunity to share your skills and get students excited about science. A great event making use of the skills of our community.
God bless
Anthony
Way of the West Program
Most of the Saints did practical things for people, especially those in need. Accordingly we ask that you help us support the ninth ‘Way of the West’ program.
The program runs for the month of August and asks for donations of food and living essentials to support Refugees and those seeking Asylum in the West.
There will be a box in each classroom for families to drop off their donations.
In the coming weeks you will see posters around the school, items in the newsletter and the Charism team will be visiting the classrooms and speaking at each Assembly to let families know what will be collected each week. Please make sure that donations are in date - especially food items!
This is a kindly reminder that this program will be happening soon and an opportunity to start adding the odd item to your weekly shop. Please do not send items into school until they are asked for as we need to set up the collection tubs.
The order of collections is as follows:
Week 1 - Dried food (healthy breakfast cereals, rice, dried fruits, pulses)
Week 2 - Tinned food (fish, vegetables, pulses)
Week 3 - Toiletries (shampoo, soap, toothbrushes and toothpaste, sanitary products, nappies)
Week 4 - Other household items (washing powder, dishwashing items, cloths)
Thank you in advance for your support!
Making the sign of the Cross
It has come to my attention that there are a number children who are not making the sign of the cross correctly. Some children are using their left hand instead of their right hand or are not crossing themselves properly.
As a school we will be making this a focus, ensuring that all students from Catholic families are making the sign of the cross correctly.
All teachers are checking in with the children.
We ask that you support this at home and ensure that your child knows how to make the sign of the cross.

I am a tree, my leaves are small.
In a forest my trunk is tall.
But slowly my friends disappear,
and I sense my time is near
The forest is growing smaller,
As I grow up so much taller.
It took me years to grow like this.
But soon I felt the axes kiss.
I cried out in pain as I fell,
Oh but the humans could not tell.
Now I am a Christmas tree,
but I wish I could be set free.
Yes I sparkle and glow a lot,
But soon I will be left to rot.

Dear parents/carers,
As part of the Thriving Kids and Parents School Project, you are invited to attend three highly relevant Triple P – Positive Parenting seminars from one of the most effective evidence-based programs in the world, FREE of charge. These interactive seminars will be delivered to parents/carers of children aged 4 – 12 years from your school/via a video conferencing platform.
The three interconnected seminars will provide you with a toolkit of practical strategies to help your child thrive. These strategies will help you guide your child’s behaviour, manage everyday worries, and build healthy peer relationships.
Attending all three seminars will provide you with the strategies you need to best support your child’s development.
- The Power of Positive Parenting (Triple P Seminar) helps you to understand why kids behave the way they do and introduces practical strategies to support your child’s social and emotional development.
- The Helping Your Child to Manage Anxiety (Fear-Less Triple P Seminar) is designed to equip you with the skills and strategies you need to support your child to manage their emotions and overcome challenges.
- The Keeping your Child Safe from Bullying (Resilience Triple P Seminar) helps you maintain good communication with your child, develop positive peer relationships, and address conflict and bullying.
The YouTube clip includes an invitation to parents/carers from Professor Matt Sanders and provides a great summary of the seminar series (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2aC9rpf-ZHg)
How can I get involved?
- Register for the seminar series and complete a short (approximately 15 – 20 minutes) online questionnaire.
- Attend the three online seminars in the TKPSP series (90 – 120 minutes each seminar).
- Complete post-seminar series questionnaires 6 weeks and 12 weeks following the registration. Each questionnaire will take around 15 minutes to complete and will help us understand how helpful the strategies have been.
Yes, I want to be involved. What’s next?
