Dear Parents, Guardians and Community,
END OF TERM PRAYER
We thank you Lord, for this term.
For the challenges, the successes,
and the mistakes from which we have learnt.
Be with us as we spend our time with family and friends.
Give us strength and courage to do what is right;
to be witnesses of our faith.
Help us to be a practical Christian these holidays,
to appreciate what others do for us,
to give time and effort to help others,
to be peacemakers in our family.
Keep us safe in our activities;
give us good rest and good fun.
Bring us back refreshed and ready for a new term.
We thank you for our classmates, teachers, parents
and a community that cares for us.
May we always be conscious of you in our lives.
Amen
Firstly thank you to every one for their efforts this term. Thanks to our staff, our families and most importantly our students. Students reports go home this week with our student conferences in week 2 of next term. Details to book your time will be available soon.
First Reconciliation: Congratulation to our Year 3 students this week who are celebrating their First Reconciliation. Reconciliation is one of the seven Sacraments that Catholic can take part in throughout their lives. The seven Sacraments of the Catholic Church are
Baptism
Reconciliation
Communion
Confirmation
Marriage
Holy Orders
Anointing of the Sick
Thankyou to the staff for their efforts preparing the students for teh Ceremony and to Father Greg for his work as well.
Poetry Slam: What an exciting event last Friday with our second ever Year 6 Poetry Slam. The students did an amazing job and impressed judges and audiences. Congratulations to Owen and Xavier R who were our overall winners with their Poem, "Doors." doors. Who would ever have thought a poem about doors could be fun and interesting, but the boys impressed us all.
Rebecca Backman: We wish Rebecca Backman all the best as she leaves us for maternity leave. Rebecca has been working as our tutor as part of the Government tutoring program supporting students with Mathematics.
Australian Mathematics Competition: August 2-4. Students from grades 4-6 will be offered an opportunity to take part in the Australian Mathematics Competition. The entry cost will be $8 per child. This competition is designed for students who preform well in Mathematics. It is an online test which takes 60 minutes. The test will be supervised at school. If you are interested in your child taking part in this competition, please complete the google form that will be sent home to families tomorrow. This was very popular in my last school with some students really enjoying the challenge.
Collection of student during school hours: A reminder that we ask families to collect children during recess time or lunch time. Our office staff are finding it hard to get through their duties as they are having to leave the office and go and collect students during their admin hours.
2024 Preps. Our 2024 preps are starting to visit the school to collect their new t-shirts. They are really excited about starting School!
Early Finish: Just a reminder that we finish at 1:30 this Friday. Oshclub will be operating from this time for these who need care. You will need to book your place.
Students first day back: Tuesday July 11.
Have a wonderful break
God bless
Anthony

Gospel – Matthew 9:36-10:8
At the sight of the crowds, his heart was moved with pity for them because they were troubled and abandoned, like sheep without a shepherd.
Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few;
so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest.”
Then he summoned his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits to drive them out and to cure every disease and every illness.
The names of the twelve apostles are these: first, Simon called Peter, and his brother Andrew; James, the son of Zebedee, and his brother John;
Philip and Bartholomew, Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James, the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddeus;
Simon the Cananean, and Judas Iscariot who betrayed him.
Jesus sent out these twelve after instructing them thus, “Do not go into pagan territory or enter a Samaritan town.
Go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
As you go, make this proclamation: ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’
Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, drive out demons. Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give.
Children’s Mass - Sunday 25th June
This Sunday we will have our second children’s Liturgy and we hope it will be as successful as the first.
We are looking forward to children from St Mary’s school and the Charism team taking on the responsibility of reading at Mass.
We are asking all children wish to read at the Mass have the support of the families.
All children who wish to sing in the choir are welcome.
Monique and myself will support all children involved in the Mass with reading and singing practice.
Children chosen to read will be given their reading to practice at home.
We will have a practice in the Church on Friday morning.
The last family mass was a brilliant success!
We saw so many families, and it is evident from the children’s responses that they want to be involved in the masses. We hope this continues.
Thank you for your continued support!
Making the sign of the Cross
It has come to my attention that there are a number children who are not making the sign of the cross correctly. Some children are using their left hand instead of their right hand or are not crossing themselves properly.
As a school we will be making this a focus, ensuring that all students from Catholic families are making the sign of the cross correctly. We ask that you support this at home and ensure that your child knows how to make the sign of the cross.

Term 2 has seen lots of activity at Emmanuel College. Last week the College launched its partnership with the Liverpool Football Club International Academy.
We are truly excited about our alignment with this iconic global brand, but we are equally as excited about what this partnership will provide for young people connected to the College. We are grateful that Liverpool chose the school to partner with in Melbourne’s West.
We are very proud of the 80 students and staff who participated in the Winter Sleepout on Friday, and $2,500 has been raised so far. We will be collecting winter clothing, scarves, blankets, beanies and non-perishable goods until this Friday to be donated to the St Vincent de Paul’s Winter Warmup.
