Dear Parents and Community,
This week the school continues with Remote Learning. We have no information at this stage when we will be returning to school other than the initial advice that said we would be returning in the last week of school. Until that advice changes we cannot plan anything else. Like everyone else, I am hearing all the rumours, not coming this term, not coming back this year etc I think what we have all learnt, is that there are many rumours, but very few have turned out to be accurate.
Other than that, school continues as best we can. We had a School Board meeting last week where we looked at many things such as the building project and e-safety policy and procedures. The School Board also discussed the school's recent work with Dylan Wiliams and how that will help with the future direction of the school. Board members have also been in touch with Council to try and get the holes in the footpath near the school entry fixed. They have gradually got deeper and deeper and are becoming a trip hazard.
Building works update: Nothing much more to report, still progressing within the Covid 19 restrictions.
MacLean's Reserve Consultation: Hopefully by now many families have been able to login and comment on the development on the link sent to all families. The next stage will be some more face to face consultation, although we expect this will be an online face to face in our current environment. We will wait for council gets back in contact with us.
Enrolments: Enrolments are still coming in for 2021. We connect with families online which is a bit different. We will need to also to put a plan together about how we support the new Prep students in 2021. We normally have some sessions for the students and the parents in Term 4. That could look very different this year.
Stay Safe and God Bless.
Anthony
We are not people of fear: we are people of courage.
We are not people who protect our own safety: we are people who protect our neighbours’ safety.
We are not people of greed: we are people of generosity.
We are your people God, giving and loving, wherever we are, whatever it costs
For as long as it takes, wherever you call us.
AMEN
Way of the West
This week we commence our Way of the West Campaign.
Listed are items that can be donated to the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) in Footscray and dispersed to families in need.
Due to the current Covid 19 restrictions, donationed items can be left on the presbytery porch (beginning Monday 31st August).
Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
Confirmation 2020
Thank you everyone for your patience in regards to Confirmation for 2020.
As you can imagine, there are a few issues around this sacrament. As you may know our Bishop, Mark Edwards has moved to the Diocese of Wagga Wagga and a new Bishop hasn’t been appointed yet. At the moment Father Greg is waiting for permission to confirm the children himself. This will not be known until September.
If the government does allow churches to open to small groups in the near future, then a revised version of the Sacrament of Confirmation will take place. Please stay tuned for more information when it becomes available.

ACTION FOR HAPPINESS
This month is Self-Care September
When we take time to look after ourselves, we’re better placed to help others and have a positive impact in the world.
This month we’re encouraging everyone to be kinder to themselves (as well as others), especially when things go wrong. Self-care increases our resilience and helps us to get more out of life. It’s not selfish, it’s essential.
You can find simple ways to make a difference using the new Self-Care September calendar.

P&F Father’s Day Celebrations
Father’s Day Breakfast and Slide Show – Friday 4 September
This year we are also celebrating Father’s Day a little differently. While we cannot get together to celebrate our traditional Father’s Day Breakfast, the P&F Committee hope you can replicate the special morning doing something together at home, taking a moment to watch the slideshow prepared by P&F to celebrate.
We are currently working to pull the slideshow together and would love it if you could send through a photo to special_events@smwilliamstown.catholic.edu.au by 5pm on Wednesday 2 September.
Father’s Day Drawing Competition
The P&F are also running a Father’s Day Drawing Competition for all students asking them to draw a picture about something they enjoy doing with their dad or someone special. There will be a number of prizes on offer with one entry drawn at random from each class as the winner. Prizes have been sourced from various businesses in/around Williamstown including Santorini, Chokspot, Grindstone, Williamstown Fine Wines, Bunnings and Book & Paper. Winners will be contacted by the P&F to select their special gift before Father’s Day.
To enter students need take a photo of their drawing and send it along with their full name and class to graphics@smwilliamstown.catholic.edu.au by 5pm on Wednesday 2 September.
