Dear, Parents, Guardians and Community,
Next Week we enter Lent, our preparation time for Easter. Lent is a 40 day season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving that begins on Ash Wednesday and ends at sundown on Holy Thursday. It's a period of preparation to celebrate the Lord's Resurrection at Easter. At school we also prepare with Shrove Tuesday, Pancake Day. This day acknowledges the old tradition of preparing for the fasting period by using up the items in your pantry, which has become Pancake Tuesday.
Meet and Greet. Thank you to all who were able to make our 'Meet and Greet' day on Monday. This meeting is very important for teachers as it is an opportunity to learn more about your child. If you were unable to come on that day, please make sure you arrange another time with your teacher.
School Board: This week we have our first School Board meeting for the year. The Board meet twice a term for the benefit of the school. This year we welcome Jacqui Trethowan to the Board. Jacqui is a respected member of our community who we look forward to working with. The Board is an advisory board, which is a common structure for organisations such as schools. I found this explanation as a good guide to how an Advisory Board Works.
An advisory board is a structured and collaborative method for organisations to engage with external advisors. Advisory boards act as a sounding board for either the company’s owners, directors or shareholders.
Advisory boards are useful in scaling businesses as well as larger entities like emerging corporates, multinationals, non-profits, academia and government. A well-structured advisory board with best practice principles allows people in the organization to test their strategic thinking and access expertise or connections that may not be readily available via other means.
Advisory boards can go by many different names and can depend on their purpose, scope or even country. Some examples we’ve heard of…
Think Tank | Steering Committees | Project Board | Board of Advice | Business Advisory Panel | Board of Advisors | Advisory Team | Advisory Committee | Advisory Board Group | Professional Advisory Group | Project Board | Planning Board | Consultative Body
Uniform: Well, thank you to all who voted. We have had 263 votes altogether. The winner was by a clear margin. Blue with a dark collar!!

Gospel – Sunday 12th February 2023
Matthew 5:20-22A, 27-28, 33-34A, 37
Jesus said to his disciples: “I tell you, unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.
“You have heard that it was said to your ancestors, You shall not kill; and whoever kills will be liable to judgment.
But I say to you, whoever is angry with brother will be liable to judgment.
“You have heard that it was said, You shall not commit adultery.
But I say to you, everyone who looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
“Again you have heard that it was said to your ancestors, Do not take a false oath, but make good to the Lord all that you vow.
But I say to you, do not swear at all.
Let your ‘Yes’ mean ‘Yes, ‘and your ‘No’ mean ‘No.’ Anything more is from the evil one.”

It has been very exciting over the last week to welcome our students back to the College as well as making welcome our Year 7 students and a number of others commencing in Years 8-12. Watching their smiling faces light up as they connected with old friends and new was very rewarding.
School events are already rolling with our Opening College Mass occurring at the Notre Dame Campus this coming Friday. As a way of continuing to build connections between the families and school, on Monday night the College held Parent Pastoral nights at each campus, where families were introduced to life at the College, met staff as well as hearing about what lies ahead for their children for the semester.
The Year 7 camps will be held in coming weeks and they continue to be amazing ways for students to make new friends and meet teachers.
Our next College experience opportunity will be the Meet the Principal event. This is a great chance to meet our new College Principal, Dr Janine Biggin as well as enjoy a tour of the College hosted by our students. Details are as follows;
