Dear Parents, Community and Guardians,
This Friday we have our first School Mass at 9:15 in the Church. We welcome all families to join us to celebrate te start of the new school year.
Indigenous Sports Top Update: Thank you for all who have voted, we have had many many responses. The students will start voting in the next day or two. I am hoping to be in a position to make a decision in the next few days. The next step is to then choose the material we will use and once that is done we can start production. Uniform suppliers have much better techniques for design these days and uniforms can go way beyond just a logo. Mandi, our artist will come in soon to start teaching the students and staff about the design. An opportunities for families will also be made available. We have been having discussions about how we will launch the uniform design and when to do it. We will keep you posted.
Playground Update. As you know, we hope to start our playground development this year. At the moment we have our plans at council for approval for our works along Parker st. This will involve some landscaping, fencing and construction of a bike shed. This work will be first as it will allow us to clear the space inside the school for the next stage. The sink holes at the front of the school will also finally be repaired allowing us to start some of the landscaping at the front of the school as well. The question I am starting to ask is how can our community help to get this work completed. Obviously we will need a lot of trades, purchases etc. If you want to contribute in any way please let me know. (Once we have a better idea of timelines we will be able to be a bit clearer about our needs.)
2024: This week I began our tours for 2024. I have five tours this week and a number of others already booked in. We have already had around 35 enquiries so far through our website so it is already getting quite busy. If you are an existing family you might want to get your application done early so we can guarantee you place. Existing families is our number one preference.
Enhancement; This year we intend to do some more work around enhancement for our students. Now that covid restrictions have gone, things are opening up giving us more scope for to do things. This year, Brittany Rickman and Rebecca Backman, have dedicated time to work as a 'Learning Enhancement Teachers.' This will mean we have more time to dedicate to activities like the Stem Aviation Project, Australian History Challenge, Global Academic Challenge and the Australian Maths Challenge. This year we are also taking part in Wakakirri dance competition to also give students interested in dance an opportunity to be extended. We are always trying ways to find ways to extend every student.
Interschool sports: This Friday our Grade 5 and 6 students have their first week of interschool sport. We wish this luck especialy our Year 5 students as it is a new experience for them.
God Bless
Anthony

Gospel – Sunday 5th February 2023
Matthew 5:13-16
Jesus said to his disciples: “You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses its taste, with what can it be seasoned? It is no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden.
Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house.
Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father.”
